BDR and BMW MOA Renew their Partnership for the 5th Consecutive Year

How to Check for Wildfires on the BDR's

We are frequently asked to provide riders with information about existing wildfires on the BDR's. The best way to find out about current wildfires is to check the links below and then call the local forest service offices for the counties that you will be passing through for further information.

WABDR Road Closure in Section 5 - Road #4150

Last year's forest fires in the Okanogan National Forest area have lead to erosion and some road damage affecting road #4150 just past Benson Creek road (heading north out of Carlton to Conconully). The road will remain closed until damage is assessed and repairs are made. The ride-around is easy - just take Highway 153 and Highway 20 around it. Refer to your WABDR Butler Map for this simple bypass.

Urgent Re-Routing of AZBDR Section 1 - Easier Route around sand. Presently our gpx track AZ1 Easy Alt to avoid Sand which takes you out of the Empire Ranch out onto Hwy 83 and then North to Hilton Ranch has been changed. Please DO NOT travel onto Hilton Ranch road off Hwy 83.

ATTN: AZBDR Riders - Navajo Nation Travel Permit Changes

As of April 1, 2015 the Navajo Nation Travel Permit has changed to $12 per 24 hour period. This includes camping and travel within that 24 hour period.

AZBDR Re-Route in Section 1

The temporary closure in Sec 1 of the AZBDR near the Empire Ranch has been re-routed. You may now download the NEW gps tracks which will have the new route included. This new section is right after you travel through the sand section that is mentioned on the Butler Map in Sec 1.

Black Dog Cycle Works Partners with BDR

Black Dog Cycle Works (BDCW) has partnered with the Backcountry Discovery Routes organization to promote a "bucket list" of destinations for the adventure riding community. An Idaho resident, BDCW owner Kurt Forgét has shared some of his best secret motorcycle roads, and has generously volunteered his time to help scout parts of the IDBDR. He also joined the BDR team for parts of the IDBDR expedition held in August and will appear as a guest character in the IDBDR movie that comes out in January 2015.

Temporary Route change in Section One of the AZBDR. All riders who are traveling the AZBDR in section one please make the following adjustment. When you get to the Empire Ranch Headquarters which is approximately 12.5 miles north from Sonoita gas stop please use the AZ1 Easy Alt to Avoid Sand track.
