BDR announces its eighth route, the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (MABDR), produced in partnership with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and Cross Country Cycle. The MABDR release includes free GPS tracks of the route and helpful ride-planning resources available at www.RideBDR.com.
Enthusiasts can also purchase a waterproof Butler Motorcycle Map and a documentary film of the expedition beautifully shot in 4K and produced by BDR Documentary Films and Noren Films.
“The creation of a single BDR route through the mid-Atlantic region was an enormous community undertaking,” said Kevin Woody, MABDR route architect and BDR Board Member. “We’ve spent nearly 3 years working with local volunteers, stitching it together mile by mile. This route will provide riders with a true backcountry experience and is very accessible to the population centers on the East Coast. I could not have been happier with the way the route turned out.”
ATTEND THE MABDR FILM PREMIERE
The MABDR film tour presented by MotoDiscovery is happening in theaters and motorcycle dealerships across the country. Enjoy the 70-minute documentary of the BDR team and special guests on the initial expedition of the route, and an evening of socializing with fellow adventure enthusiasts at one of the upcoming MABDR Film Premieres.
WHAT IS MABDR?
The Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (#MABDR) is a scenic ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles that uses dirt, gravel and paved roads to wind through remote parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Starting in Damascus Virginia, and ending in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, PA, this 1,080-mile route, primarily uses forest roads and rural country lanes, to lead riders through the Appalachian Mountains, majestic forests, bucolic farming landscapes, Amish country, and locations that played pivotal roles in early American history.
In lieu of the Touratech Rally East this year, Touratech-USA is celebrating MABDR month this August and encouraging riders to experience the route. Touratech staffers plan to ride the entire route and will offer a first-hand report.
Colorado Motorcycle Adventures will be leading a tour up the Mid-Atlantic BDR from September 29th to October 5th – the perfect time to take full advantage of the amazing Autumn colors on the East Coast.
