We were just informed by Allison B, Resource Information Manager/GIS Coordinator Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the Section 6 of the NVBDR is still closed to traffic. Section 1 of the IDBDR closure has been lifted. The closure order has changed and the town’s people of Jarbidge have been able to return home. The favorable winds and weather change have allowed the FS to get a better handle on the fire. Please be advised this cold change if weather conditions change dramatically.
POSTED Aug 28th – There are disruptions to Section 6 of the NVBDR and Section 1 of the IDBDR. The entire Mountain City and Jarbidge portions of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest are currently under a closure order and all roads and trails are closed. The town of Jarbidge and nearby areas are currently under voluntary evacuation. NV Hwy 225 is closed north of Elko at Wild Horse Reservoir (north of point where the BDR turns off onto the dirt) so is not an alternate option for those looking to continue north into Idaho. As for Section 1 of the IDBDR, the route is open north of the forest boundary. We currently have no information on how poor the air quality might be due to the smoke. The fire is still spreading in an easterly direction and will most likely not be contained by the upcoming holiday weekend.
