Bridge repairs are taking place at the eastern entrance of the White Oak ALT Harder track on Section 10

Riders doing the route in reverse and coming from the west will face a lengthy backtrack, please avoid this track until fully opened.

September 8, 2025 (updated 9/22/25)

A new version of the GPS tracks is available labeled SEBDR-Sept2025-v2.1

We have received reports of riders encountering closure signs through the Cherokee Nation on Section 7 near Maggie Valley, NC.

We have been working with the local representatives to gain more insight into these signs and it has been confirmed that these roads are CLOSED to use until further notice.
We are working with land managers to find a resolution, but until further notice riders must bypass this area by remaining on Highway 19 into Maggie Valley.
New tracks are available for download to reflect this update.

September 3, 2025 (Revised from earlier posting)

A new version of the SEBDR is available labeled SEBDR-Sept2025

This update includes a few refinements and some new additions:

Section 6: a bypass track is still in place for a bridge closure.
Section 7: a new Extension track has been added east of Tellico Plains for a great ride to the Mt Wauchessi Lookout Tower. This road is moderately steep but not overly rocky or challenging and is 3.1mi round trip.
Section 7: A revision has been made to the route near Andrews NC that bypasses some highway and includes some great new pavement and dirt. Additionally, a new optional EXT track has been added to Bald River Falls
Section 8: The original intended route leaving Maggie Valley on Old Cataloochee is currently closed for bridge repairs. An option to bypass via I40 is also closed for repairs. We have added the previous bypass track to the file and advise riders to take this until the original route is reopened. Both tracks are contained in the .gpx file.
Section 9: as posted in the April release, River Road is now officially open leaving the town of Hot Springs NC
