UPDATE !! NVBDR Sec 6 Still Closed • IDBDR Sec 1 back open along BDR.

Aug 29th, 2018
We were just informed by Allison B, Resource Information Manager/ GIS Coordinator Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the Section 6 of the NVBDR is still closed to traffic. Section 1 of the IDBDR closure has been lifted. The closure order has changed and the town's people of Jarbidge have been able to return home. The favorable winds and weather change have allowed the FS to get a better handle on the fire. Please be advised this could change if weather conditions change dramatically.

IDBDR Long Creek Rd temporary bypass suggested

Aug 21st, 2018
The Lowman District Ranger has asked that we ask riders to not use Long Creek due to new water bars recently installed. The waterbars are very wide and deep and were installed to help with possible flooding from recent fires. They will come up unexpectedly and have not been packed in yet for travel. It will help the Forest Service get the road in good shape for next year if we would stay off the road until next season. Also the water crossing at Clear Creek is still deep and several bikes have been stranded there this summer. Please take Clear Creek road up to where the route turns and goes north on Bear Vally Rd.

UTBDR LaSal Pass Considered Expert Only Due to Deterioration

Aug 23rd, 2018
The west side of LaSal Pass has become difficult to travel due to past flooding and OHV travel. It should be considered Expert Only and travel by Adventure Bike is not recommended at this time. Please use the winter route bypass tracks ALT UT2 Winter Bypass LaSal Mtns ALT. Or you may travel beyond the town of LaSal and go over Geyser Pass which connects to LaSal Loop Road and reconnect with the route going to Moab. We will have actual tracks for Geyser Pass soon and the UTBDR Route will no longer use LaSal Pass, instead Geyser Pass will be the official route until LaSal is repaired.

WABDR Cougar Creek Fire closes part of route

Aug 14th, 2018
Due to the Lost and Cougar Creek Fires, the Forest Service roads between Cashmere and the Entiat River Valley are closed. Unfortunately the fire is so close to the WABDR that it's not possible to pick up the route at Ardenvoir. So the bypass is to ride north on Highway 97-Alt from Wenatchee all the way to Chelan and pick up the WABDR there.

UTBDR Aug 13th Fire UPDATE

Aug 13th, 2018
This is the August 13th update for the UTBDR. The Dollar Ridge fire has a portion of Sec 4 closed north of Wellington. Re-route to Duchesne to get around this fire closure. At this time the rest of the route is open in UT. Fire danger is high so no campfires. This closure has no timeline for re-opening in 2018.

COBDR Weston Pass Open

Aug 13th, 2018
Weston Pass in now open to travel. It was previously closed due to the Weston Pass Fire. However only County Road 22 is open. Forest road 433 and others north of Trout Creek Pass are still closed due to the fire. You may still ride out of Buena Vista and follow the route to Weston Pass. Stay on the track until you come out onto Hwy 285, turn left (North) and stay on 285 until you come to County Road 22. This is the road to Weston Pass and turn left (West) and follow road until you meet up with the route coming out of the forest. You will stay on CR 22 over Weston Pass.

COBDR Plateau Fire Section is NOW OPEN

Aug 13th, 2018
The US Forest Service has announced the lifting of the road closure order which was put in place because of the Plateau Fire. You may now travel the Section 1 from Dolores to Telluride on the route. There is still a lot of smoke and fire activity in the area so we still recommend you take the detour for the next week or two just to help out the fire crews in the area. See the body of the story to get details on detour (re-route).

IDBDR: Road Closure in Section 8

Aug 10th, 2018
The Lightning Creek Road from Clark Fork to Trestle Creek Road is still closed. To reconnect with the route from Clark Fork, remain on Hwy 200 to the junction of Trestle Creek Rd and Hwy 200 where you will remain on Hwy 200 to continue the route as planned.

WABDR: Washout in Section 3

Aug 8th, 2018
We've received information that there is a triple washout on Liberty Beehive Road at N47 17.762 W120 26.907. It can be done on little bikes but is almost impassable on the big bikes for all but the most experienced riders.

COBDR Ophir Pass Rock Slide

Jul 31st, 2018
Ophir Pass just beyond Telluride has become more difficult to travel due to several rock slides. The road has been cleared but the rock is deep and loose on along the road. What use to have some hard pack single track to negotiate is now all rock. The route is still doable for those who have experience in this type of rock, but difficult on larger bikes. Caution should be taken when traveling this section and this is not considered one of the toughest parts of the COBDR.
