BDR Partners with Bivouac Coffee to Fuel Adventure and Support the Riding Community

April 28, 2025

Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) is proud to announce a new partnership with Bivouac Coffee, a Colorado-based, sustainability-focused roaster dedicated to supporting outdoor recreation and the adventurous lifestyle.

Born in the mountains of Evergreen, Colorado, Bivouac Coffee was founded in 2017 with a mission to reduce the environmental impact of global coffee production. As a Public Benefit Corporation and a 1% for the Planet company, Bivouac is committed to operating with the highest environmental and social standards—values that align strongly with the BDR mission to promote responsible travel and support rural communities across the U.S.

To celebrate our partnership, Bivouac has crafted two exclusive roasts for BDR, available now in the BDR online store:

Main Route Blend (Medium Roast)

A smooth and balanced blend of Brazil and Honduras single origin beans, this roast features rich tones of chocolate, almond, and a subtle hint of fruitiness—perfect for fueling your morning around the campsite or in the garage.

Alt Harder Blend (Dark Roast)

A bold, full-bodied roast combining South American beans with a precise ratio of East African flavor, this coffee is roasted just dark enough to bring richness and depth without sacrificing origin character. Smooth, complex, and ready for the ride.

These are the same roasts the BDR team drinks in the office and packs along on scouting and filming  expeditions, timed perfectly with pre-dawn starts and long days in the backcountry.

“We’ve been dreaming about a coffee partnership for years, and once we tasted Bivouac’s roasts and saw how committed they are to the riding community, the decision was easy. Most of us on the BDR team are pretty serious about our coffee, and let’s be honest—coffee and motorcycles just go together. There’s something about the smell of a good roast in the morning that gets you dialed in for a big day on the bike. Bivouac puts the same care into sourcing and roasting as we do into building our routes—thoughtful, intentional, and always with the community in mind. We can’t wait to share this coffee with our riders. ”

“At Bivouac, we believe small choices—like the coffee you drink—can have a big impact. Our mission is to help everyday coffee drinkers think more consciously about their environmental footprint. We love to travel and explore, but how we do it matters. That’s why we admire BDR’s work in driving responsible travel and economic support to small towns across the U.S. Just like BDR gives back to the places we ride through, we aim to give back to the planet and outdoor communities through sustainable sourcing and meaningful partnerships. This collaboration is a natural fit.”

Adventure is in Bivouac’s DNA. Their team includes climbers, trail runners, and ADV riders—including René himself, who has completed half a dozen BDRs. With a passion for the backcountry and a deep respect for the land we travel through, Bivouac is the perfect partner to keep our community caffeinated and connected to something bigger.

BDR is proud to collaborate with a company that shares our values and gives back to the outdoor spaces we all rely on. Pick up a bag (or two) of the BDR roasts (or bundle it with the BDR travel mug) and enjoy coffee that fuels your next ride, while supporting the mission of both BDR and Bivouac.
