MABDR: 2022 Riding Season Route Updates
Updated June 24, 2022
Updated June 24, 2022
There is a bridge replacement on Cowpens Rd in section 6 that will last until October 2022 at least. The bypass is to take Three Square Hollow Rd as shown in the attached map.
Detour from the south: turn left at Cowpens/Three Square Hollow roads intersection and continue on Three Square Hollow rd to intersection with Laurel Run rd(approximately 5 1/2 miles). Turn left onto Laurel Run rd and you’re back on the route.
Detour from the north: on Laurel Run rd after passing Bower Mountain rd intersection at top of ridge, drop off the ridge(Henry’s Valley vista part way down to your left), and watch for Three Square Hollow rd intersection with Laurel Run rd after a sweeping left turn. Take a right onto Three Square Hollow rd and follow for approximately 5 1/2 miles.
Deadman Hollow Rd is closed in section 9 at the intersection of Deadman Road and Painter-Leetonia Road. The workaround is to continue on Painter-Leetonia Road, bypassing Deadman Hollow Rd altogether. This bypasses Colton Point State Park. If riders wish to visit Colton Point Park, get on Colton Road at the Painter-Leetonia Road.
For the 2021 riding season we’ve made some modifications to the route. New .GPX files are now available for download here.
Slight reroute in Sheperdstown, West Virginia that now takes you along the Potomac River on River Road. This edit will be included in the next print edition of the Butler MABDR Map.
The rocky descent into Poe Paddy Campground is now designated as an optional Expert-Only track. The main route will now travel along Pine Swamp to Poe Valley. The two tracks connect again at the intersection of Poe Valley Road and Havice Valley Road. This edit will be included in the next print edition of the Butler MABDR Map.
After months of being closed due to a culvert installation, Lime Kiln Rd. has been reopened. Riders no longer need to use Douthat Park Rd. as the alternate.
