BDR Awards Matching Grant to Support Launch of SheADV Annual Supporter Program

April 3, 2025

Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) is proud to announce a $5,000 matching grant to support the launch of the SheADV Annual Supporter Program, a new initiative aimed at empowering more women to explore the world of adventure motorcycling. Every SheADV Supporter contribution will be doubled, amplifying its impact and helping SheADV continue to grow its reach and programming.

SheADV was founded in 2015 by BDR Co-Founder Paul Guillien, and BDR Ambassador Shalmarie Wilson.  For a decade this entirely volunteer-driven organization has been helping women riders develop their skills, build confidence, and connect with a growing network of female motorcyclists.

Programs such as SheADV Trailside Online, a free monthly virtual meetup series, provide educational resources and discussions on key topics in adventure riding. SheADV also attends national ADV rallies and offers all-women’s training sessions at major industry events.

In addition to training and mentorship, SheADV provides essential resources for backcountry motorcycle travel, preparedness, and rider safety, breaking down barriers for women looking to explore the world on two wheels.

The SheADV organization is currently incorporated as a nonprofit in Arizona and is pursuing federal 501(c)(3) status.

BDR’s mission has always been to promote exploration and responsible travel on public lands—and that includes supporting efforts that welcome more riders into the fold. We’re honored to back SheADV’s next chapter and encourage our community to support this important initiative. If you know a woman interested in learning or growing in ADV riding, encourage them to join and get involved with SheADV.

“We’re proud to support SheADV in launching this program.  For over a decade, SheADV has been a vital part of building a more inclusive adventure riding community, and we believe this initiative will help even more women get involved, stay engaged, and find their place in the ADV world.”

“For nearly a decade, SheADV has built a thriving community where women can gain skills, confidence, and lifelong connections. With this new program, we’re inviting more riders to join us in breaking down barriers and empowering women in adventure motorcycling.”
